Is RegRadar a legit UK car check service?

How RegRadar works, where its data comes from, and how it compares to HPI.

RegRadar is a UK vehicle check service for used-car buyers. The free reg check uses the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT history API; the premium £9.99 report adds Experian and Cazana/Percayso data through One Auto API.

Every section of a RegRadar report is attributed to its provider so you can verify it.

Independence

RegRadar is independent and not affiliated with HPI, DVLA, DVSA, Experian, One Auto API, Cazana or Percayso. It is one of several UK alternatives to HPI that runs on the same underlying data partners.

What RegRadar does well

  • Live DVLA and DVSA data on the free tier — no caching.
  • One-off £9.99 premium reports, not a subscription.
  • Per-section data attribution.
  • Downloadable PDF report.

Where RegRadar may not fit

  • If you check 50+ vehicles a month, a trade subscription from a larger provider may be cheaper.
  • For motorbikes, vans and HGVs, premium data coverage can be more limited than passenger cars.
  • For non-UK vehicles (e.g. recent imports), some sections may return 'no data'.

Bottom line

RegRadar is a legitimate, independent UK car check service using regulated DVLA, DVSA, Experian and Cazana/Percayso data. Treat the report as guidance and verify the V5C, VIN and seller identity in person before buying.
